Leading authorities such as the IPCC, US EPA, the Stern Review, the Woods Hole Institute, NASA's Goddard Space center and dozens more can all be accessed from one easy directory. The site can be found at: alphatech5.com/cchange/cchange. htm Access is free and all interested parties are welcome to browse the directory and use the links as required. They give essential information for the general public, plus important research links for students and educators. Global Warming and Climate Change are now accepted as fact, with governments around the world now looking to build on the Kyoto Protocol by establishing greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. The US President, George W Bush, has recently held talks with European counterparts in order to kick start this process and begin working on establishing reduction targets and time frames for the USA. Currently only the USA, Canada and Australia have not accepted the Kyoto Protocols and it is currently the intention of those governments to establish their own frameworks rather than adopt the Kyoto Protocols. The major stumbling block to worldwide adoption of uniform targets and time-frames will be differing economic and political imperatives. The fast developing nations such as China and India do not wish to hinder the growth of their burgeoning economies, whilst the developed nations do not wish to slow their economies drastically either by reducing their income from fossil fuel industries such as oil, gas, petroleum and coal. The need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is clear. Polar ice caps are receding rapidly, glaciers are disappearing, weather patterns are changing, flora and fauna are disappearing at alarming rates. It is now not a question of will the use of fossil fuels disappear, but when? Alternative energy sources such as Fuel Cells, Solar, Wind, Wave and even Nuclear will grow apace and the fossil fuel industries are now in their sunset phase. Like the steam train, they have been of great use to mankind but they have now outlived their usefulness and must be consigned to the pages of history. Keep plenty of photographs of your favourite petrol-guzzling auto. In a few years we will all be driving Hybrids - and eventually Fuel Cell or Hydrogen powered cars.

Weather and latitude are not allies
: There is a popular assumption that if you move to higher latitudes (toward the poles) you can escape the heat, and that by moving to lower latitudes (toward the equator) you can escape the cold. The equation is simple. But is it real? If it was, then the most northerly capital, Reykjavнk, would also be the coldest...at least until they establish a country on Antarctica. Yes, it appears that latitude is slacking off and failing to keep temperatures in line. This was brought home to me when preparing for a radio interview in Dublin, Ireland. February had just roiled in and I was sitting back comfortably in my good old glacial Ottawa, Canada, weather, scraping icicles off my toes. I was giddy with excitement over our warm spell, which it was reaching a high of minus-5 (that's about 20-degrees American). I always ask questions the day before an interview, to learn a bit about my audience, so I asked the producer, "So what's the weather forecast for Dublin, Ireland?" asked. "Oh it's horrible," she told me. "People are bracing for a deep winter freeze that's supposed to hit tonight. It might even get as cold as minus-5!" This blew me away, that the folks in Dublin would be worried about the thermometer dips as low as ours spikes high. After all, isn't Dublin about the same latitude as Ottawa? Weather forecast from an atlas I whipped out my trusty atlas. We live almost exactly on the 45th parallel. If we lived exactly on it, we would have to share our bed with a cow and a dozen chickens across the road – that's how close we are. I turned the pages to find Ireland. Could I have been mistaken? Is Dublin really quite south of us? No, it turns out that Dublin lies at the 53rd parallel. Hey! They should be getting colder weather than us. That's not fair. The weather is not fair. Dublin is way to the North of us, so why do we get all the cold? I decided to take a peak at a few other pages of my atlas. Lo and behold, Venice is also on the 45th parallel. Let me tell you that the weather forecast for Venice, Italy never calls for getting buried in snow for three or four months of the year...unless you happen to be viewing "The Day After Tomorrow". In fact, the average temperature in Venice in January is +1 (that's about 34-degrees American). Hmm. I wondered what else lay along the 45th parallel. The French Riviera. Not too much ice going on there. Portland, Oregon. I checked the Portland, USA, weather forecast. Yup, same as Venice in January. And Sevastapol, Urkaine, also with January temperatures near Venice. In fact, no other well-populated area of the world endures so much cold (except parts of Russia, but many of those people can't afford the taxi fare to go somewhere else). So why do so many people with so much wealth live in such an inhospitable climate? I don't know. Maybe we are waiting for latitude to correct this little anomaly. Or maybe our brains are simply frozen. Or maybe that's why so many people around here head south to enjoy that warm Orlando, Florida, weather forecast.

Alpha omega home schooling
There are ever so many types of homeschooling curriculums attainable to dads and moms electing to homeschool their young people. Electing a course of study is significant in the process towards Bobby and Mary's scholastic adventure at home. Depending on the general studies, the instructing idea may be dramatically different than another form of homeschool study offered. Remember this law, all curriculums are not created equal. Regardless, since you are determined to homeschool your child, you get to make the decision, where as in public schools, you are at the mercy of the state. Alpha Omega offers a revered core curriculum for those moms who educate their children in their home sweet home. Likewise, quite a few Christianly schools have chosen Alpha Omega as their curriculum of choice. It's significant that you one hundred percent latch on to the goals of Alpha Omega as it trickles down into your children's grade levels of study. Since Alpha Omega is based on the Bible, their ethics are fairly the same to what you see in some Christly churches. Here are the principles of the Alpha Omega Publications House: * We believe that the Old and Recent Testaments are the provoked Word of Jehova, revealing the three Bodies of the Godhead: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. * We believe in the incarnation and virgin outset of our Jehova and Savior Jesus Christ as verifiable Lord and true man. * We believe that fellow was suited in The father's vision but is separated from Jehova by sin. * We believe that man is redeemed by grace through devotion in Christ's vicarious atonement for sins, the shedding of His blood on the Cross. * We believe that the gift of eternal affairs is accessible to absolutely men, that those who receive Christ by resolution are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and thereby settle into youth of The father. * We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ, His imminent return and the resurrection of His society. It's eminent that you really ask for time to review these standards and ensure you agree with this in advance to deciding what your child's course of study should be and look like. Remember that you can always seek out advice of homeschooling groups in your region as a good sounding board to see if others are happy with the Alpha Omega approach. Of course, the World Wide Web is fully capable of giving you reviews of this homeschooling study and will be able to offer you with even greater testimonials from those parents who appreciate and support their youth's education with the Alpha Omega Publication clan.

Human rights take front and center for the new york city schools
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child put forth that one primary purpose of schools is to develop respect for human rights and the fundamental freedoms that all children should enjoy. They noted that to truly understand and promote human rights, one has to live them out in relation to others. The New York City schools has taken this directive seriously and to heart by creating its School for Human Rights, a combined middle and high school academy that is built around the concept of human rights. It is one of nearly 150 small public schools opened through special initiatives in the last three years by the New York City schools, having opened its doors in September 2004. During the New York City schools’ school year 2005-2006, the School of Human Rights had over 180 students. Located in Brooklyn, the School for Human Rights is rare, even for the New York City schools. Its core values are dignity, respect and responsibility, which is the driving force behind its curriculum, how the students learn and the teachers teach, how they treat one another, and the types of adults the New York City schools hope the students become. Human rights are demonstrated to students by how the school meets the educational needs of each and every student; in its practices, such as discipline with dignity; examples given in class, questions raised by teachers, the active discussions, critical thinking and reflection that are part of the project-based coursework; and even in the human rights enriching field trips. The School of Human Rights is the only New York City schools that integrates an academic and social skills-based curriculum. It even immerses human rights into its extracurricular activities, such as film festivals and workshops with human rights defenders. The School of Human Rights challenges the New York City schools students to become compassionate and socially engaged young adults, who are committed to equality, dignity and social consciousness. Amnesty International USA, Human Rights Education Association, and New Visions for Public Schools, who have partnered with the New York City schools and made this school possible, hope to see many of these New York City schools’ students carry over what they learn into their adult lives, as well as to enter social justice careers. The New York City schools based the School for Human Rights on UNICEF’s framework to: • Recognize the rights of every child; • See the whole child in a broad context, in the home environment as well as at school; • Be child centered, ensuring the psychological and social well being of each child; • Be gender sensitive and girl friendly by eliminating stereotypes and constraints to education, while promoting achievement; • Promote quality learning outcomes; • Base education on each child’s unique identity, previous school experience, community, and family; • Promote New York City schools’ student rights and responsibilities within the school environment, including ensuring inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity for each child; • Enhance New York City schools’ teacher capacity, morale, commitment and status, and • Be family focused. To ensure the School of Human Rights teachers have the resources and professional development they need, the Human Rights Education Association provides this support to the New York City schools. Teachers have found that the most difficult task is presenting human rights in a meaningful and empowering manner, making human rights more than an abstract concept. The School of Human Rights is unique and will empower its students beyond what is found in other public schools.

Metro nashville public schools promote unconventional role models
A Step in the Right Direction at Nashville Schools We’re all familiar with the kinds of students who are projected to be potential leaders in high schools – the debate team member, the math club geek, the student council president. These are the stereotypical American leaders of tomorrow; lucky enough to have their special abilities recognized while they are still in school. But what of the other less visible role models? The kid with a stammer who has a lot to say if he could only get the words out clearly enough, the teenage mom with unlimited potential, even the kid at the back row who spends more time in detention than in class? You’d cringe at the thought of these students being portrayed as leaders and nobody would blame you. In a groundbreaking new program, Nashville schools believe that this exact group of “low on achievement but high on potential” students has the capabilities to make an impact on society. So confident are Metro Nashville schools that these students, if given a gentle nudge, can make equal or greater contributions to society that they are partnering with local community organizations to promote this belief. Identifying Role Models at Metro Nashville Public Schools Alignment Nashville, a group that aims to bring together Nashville schools and local community organizations like the YMCA, and Hands on Nashville, wants to create a more organized framework for co-operation between these bodies. Earlier well intentioned attempts to coordinate Nashville schools and voluntary organizations fizzled because of the unsystematic nature of the efforts. This time around the focus is on going beyond words to actual implementation. The organization has launched a couple of programs at two Metro Nashville Public Schools targeting students who possess leadership capabilities but are currently frittering away these abilities in other pursuits. In other words it aims to draw out the potential of at-risk teens who might not have otherwise had a shot at any roles in the school system, leave alone positions of leadership. Creating Unlikely Leaders at Nashville Schools This heartening initiative to empower students in Metro Nashville Public Schools who have been marginalized and draw them into leadership roles in the system works in a surprisingly simple manner. Staff is asked to nominate students they feel are currently on the fringes of the school, but could blossom given the right opportunities. The program then aims to target these students through reading programs, discussions, maintaining journals, enhancing problem solving and team work abilities. Students are encouraged to communicate successfully and respect diversity. Although it’s still too early to gauge the success of this program, authorities at Metro Nashville Public Schools say changes are already visible. Students in the programs are already assuming positions in school bodies and clubs and even at other local organizations. In the long run, Nashville schools expect this commendable program to lead to fewer dropouts, decreased school fights and an overall enhanced school environment for all.
Learn japanese fast and effortlessly
It is not an impossible task to learn Japanese fast. First, enthusiasm, commitment, and focus can go a long way. Second, it helps to know certain basics. Written Japanese uses three different scripts: * Kanji * Hiragana * Katakana Kanji is composed of Chinese characters. Hiragana and katakana are syllabic scripts based on Chinese characters. A combination of kanji and hiragana are used in modern Japanese. Katakana is usually used to depict loaned foreign words in addition to sounds. The characters are written from top to bottom, or vertically, and from right to left. This method is standard, although scientific journals and computers use the horizontal method, read from left to right. There is a variety of politeness levels, depending on the social standings of the speaker and listener. Also, the language includes speech that males or females tend to use that is specific to their gender, which can mean differences in the use of vocabulary, grammar, and even pitch. Many teaching sources promise quick learning of a foreign language. Choose a course wisely, one that is most suitable for you. Bear in mind your budget, level of interest, and the amount of time you are willing to invest. To learn Japanese fast, pay close attention to the manner of study offered by different courses. This depends primarily on your need. Do you want to improve on your reading and writing skills? Do you only need to be able to get around while you travel, speaking to native speakers? If you expect you only need to know how to speak proficiently enough, you do not need to concentrate on learning characters as much as mastering conversations on everyday topics. If you want to learn Japanese fast when you are focusing on speaking the language, speaking is easier to pick up than the writing part. Listening to audio files, such as listening to the language being spoken by a native speaker, is the quickest method to pick up proper pronunciation and wording. (If you do plan on learning how to read and write, lots of books have CD-ROMs that include audio.) Listen carefully to the tones and then imitate them as best as possible. The only other things needed are patience and perseverance. There are no textbooks, teachers, or drill exercises involved here. When you study by yourself, you benefit from the convenience of learning any time, anywhere, at your own pace. Another thing to consider in order to learn Japanese fast is the amount of grammar and vocabulary you need to study. For sake of time, you can focus on words you know you would use the most often, which also helps in remembering them. For grammar, you can save time by becoming familiar with the basic forms of sentences and words, just enough to help with constructing sentences and talking. For practical and simple courses that are based on a step-by-step method of learning Japanese, try Pimsleur-language. The lessons provided are audio based and focus on improving comprehension and communication skills. For more information, visit pimsleur-language.

The people building answer to fire your desire
Well in truth People Building have yet to decide upon an answer to Inner Compasses weekend event “Fire your Desire” which involved using NLP and Goal setting techniques to help people overcome limits within their own lives. Part of this motivational weekend, included a fire walk, which most participants took part in, along with other mind power utilising techniques that would make any health and safety representative loose sleep for a month. So what will the People Building answer to this missing event be? Well it is likely to include a firewalk, NLP, Hypnosis, Goal setting, and all of the usual techniques required for a motivational weekend, but the difference will be in the delivery. For a start, the trainer at People Building is female. Already a big difference. But seriously the biggest difference will be the sales pitches. Of course we want you to learn the most excellent skills that are NLP and Hypnotherapy, but we only want the most motivated people to attend our courses as we have found that the most motivated people make the best therapists and practitioners. As a graduate of the Inner Compass trainings, it never ceased to amaze me at how forthright and persistent the Inner Compass sales team were. In fact, at the end of completing NLP Trainers Training, I was invited to join the Master Trainer Development program. The cost of which could be compared to the price of a brand new car. In fact, I am certain that many cars are cheaper than the Master Trainer program that was being offered. Due to the fact the the monthly instalments would be more than my mortgage, I put off the offer for the time being. I received at least 3 phone calls over the coming months from keen sales people, attempting to get their commission from selling NLP Master Trainer to me. I kept putting it off and instead dreaming of the day when I might actually have that kind of money to spare each month. Sometime later, I found out that Inner Compass had gone into receivership. I don’t know how many of the people that signed up to Master Trainer lost their money, nor how much they have each lost. They may be able to claw some of it back from the creditors. I suppose, they also may not. Maybe it’s my slightly cynical side that prevented me from having that much faith in handing a huge sum of money over to a training company, and maybe it was the pushy sales. Either way, pushy sales are not the People Building style. We’re confident you’ll do our NLP and Hypnotherapy training, not because we badger you to do so, but because you will believe in the value of doing so.
